Q3) What is a Managed server?


A domain can have zero or more managed servers.
All the applications are hosted in managed servers only.
Admin server stores the master copy of the domain config. Each Managed server stores local copy of domain config.
Managed server contacts the admin server while starting. So, to do any changes, we need to contact Admin server. Admin server will push those changes to Managed servers. We can start the managed server if admin server failed. But we cant do any changes in managed server if admin is failed(Stopped).

    Hello we are using WLS .-- created a Domain - Admin Server - Managed Server(2)
    Till now we haven't face any failure from Admin Server .Managed servers are failed many times.But what about Admin server down..What are the Parameters will effect and Cause the Admin Server to FAil /Down..Any one can't deploy Application in Admin server right! If admin Server fails what the aCTION HAVE TO TAKE FOR THAT! please share me

    in the above explanation of doamin config, are we referring it to config.xml? if yes do we have have copy of config.xml in the managed server folder too??
