App server can handle both static and dynamic pages, but why do we use webserver?

  • Raja Reddy load balance

  • Kabir Oberoi To reduce load on app server...

  • Manjunath Mallela To act as proxy

  • Surendra Raju web server manages load balancing and acts as proxy

  • Anil Kumar Gadde proxy and static pages & loadbalancing perpose

  • Ruchir Khanna Webserver is to expose it to Web world : )

  • Sudhesh Pnair Webserver can act as reverse proxy,LB,caching

  •  Suresh Kumar load balancing is the main concept... one more thing web server doen't handle .ear package. app server deploy the .ear files and as well.
  • Madhu Reddy Load Balancing & Visualization & Maintain static data (images/pdf files )

  • Harshit Tripathi load balancing & also for security purpose....!!!

  • Tatikonda Vamsikrishna load balancing and transfer the HTTP requests............

  • Rashmi Singh ofcourse it acts as a proxy, load balancer, server virtualizaion etc.
But also, if your application is serving static data, those requests can be handled by webserver itself which minimizes the load on app server.

  • Venkat M Kanna And also providing more security on environments....so that we using webserver as seperate layer all the real time environments..
