What is the difference between telnet command and dbping command (While we checking the Database is up/down) ?

telnet is a command command to see whether one server is able to connect to other server by a specific port number and this can be used to test any connectivity.
dbping is used to test the connection between middle tier to db server,so this can be used to check the connectivity between Middle Tier and DB Tier.
